As Aunty Kate is staying we decided to head down to Melaka for the weekend. You would have thought we were going on a year long expedition the amount of stuff we had to take rather than just one night and our poor little car was full to the brim.
Although it did seem to take hours to actually get out of the house on Saturday morning we did arrive in plenty of time to have a mooch round the streets of Chinatown before lunch. Charlie enjoyed all the sounds and smells and was happy to be jiggled round the uneven streets.
On Sunday we visited Villa Sentosa 'The Living Museum' and were shown around by the delightful Abdul Rahim. He made sure we sat where the King and Queen had sat and invited us to make wishes by hitting a 200 year old gong. We then took a walk along the meandering river until we ended back in the centre of Melaka for lunch.
As if this wasn't enough excitement we had a rather eventful drive home too. Charlie was kind enough to explode all over his car seat 100km from home. Cleaning up that kind of mess on the side of the road with just a few baby wipes is an experience we hope never to repeat. At least it will be a road trip we'll never forget!
